Tea seller's daughter from a small UP village gets Rs 2 crore scholarship in US
If you dream big and work hard to achieve your goals, then nothing is impossible. This came true for a 17-year-old girl from a small village in Bulandhshahr, UP when she got Rs 1.92 crore scholarship to study in a college in the US.Sudiksha Bhati, whose father runs a small tea shop in Dhoom Manikpur village in Bulandhshahr, was forced to drop her school in 2009 due to financial constraints but her hard work and dedication kept her going and she is now waiting for her visa for a 4-year entrepreneurship course at the prestigious Babson College in Massachusetts, often ranked as one of the most prestigious entrepreneurship college in the US. Sudiksha is also the CBSE Class XII Bulandshahr district topper with 98 per cent score and will soon join the prestigious college with other 24 Indian students who have been admitted in Babson College this year.However, her journey from Bulandhshahr to Babson was never easy. She was out of school for some time as her father couldn't afford to pay school fees due to heavy business losses in 2009.She studies till Class V in a government primary school in her village, Dhoom Manikpur, but her bright academic credentials convinced her father to promote her to prepare for the entrance exam to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Vidyagyan Leadership Academy in Bulandshahr. In 2011, Sudiksha got admission in VidyaGyan academy to study free of cost till Class XII.VidyaGyan leadership academy, run by the Shiv Nadar foundation, provides education to bright students from economically weaker sections in rural Uttar Pradesh. Sudiksha, along with three other students of the school, have got scholarships in different colleges of US.It was a summer academic programme at the Iacocca Institute in Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in July 2016, which led Sudiksha to dream of going abroad. She was one of the 76 students from India selected by the institute. In 2017, Sudiksha set for the SAT exam and got good score.
