You could soon get to see vacant train seat details online
NEW DELHI: Acknowledging the hardship passengers face to get a reserved ticket, railway minister Piyush Goyal has asked his ministry officials to evolve a system on the lines of air ticket booking mechanism so that passengers can see the details of vacant seats or berths.Sources said the ministry will take up the issue with Centre for Rail Information System (CRIS) to find a solution so that people can get live availability of seats for booking. They added the railways would also see if it can make the booked chart available for public to see on their mobile phone or any other device. To ensure that no personal details are divulged, the railways would only mention the PNR numbers.Officials said the process will be a little complex considering that each train will have several stops where passengers either board or de-board.
