After Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari announced Nepal was going to issue a new political map claiming Lipulekh Pass and Kalapani territory, which is under India’s administrative control, the neighbouring country has cited a 1997 India-Nepal joint statement to assert that this boundary issue had been on the bilateral agenda for more than two decades.
